Signs of the Times

Woke up this afternoon and found once again that I had no food in the house. Well, that is not exactly true. I had no food in the house that didn’t require an effort to fix. I like to cook, but after only four hours sleep, I really didn’t feel like it today.

So I pulled myself together and I ended up at a neighborhood restaurant. After I was seated and had ordered, I had a chance to look around. My eyes were drawn across the street. I hadn’t noticed when I drove by, but there were two people carrying signs in front of the Walgreens. My first thought was, why would anyone be protesting in front of Walgreens? But, then they turned and I could read the signs: Girl Scout cookies for sale. They were not protesters, only two young girls.

With all of the crap going on these days, I guess I should not be surprised that my mind immediately jumped to dissent and protest. But a large part of me wishes that were not the case.

Sad, but true, I usually expect anyone holding a sign to be protesting - unless they are dressed as a sheep or the statue of Liberty. - they are two "marketing" folks who just stand outside stores, in the rain, in heat whatever. It has never made me want to go in to their stores, in fact I usually just feel bad for them... Ok totally off topic...Wouldn't it be lovely to have a time when the only "protesters" we saw were little kids trying to get a badge or $ for summer camp? Nice thought.

I don't believe I have ever seen anyone dressed as a sheep, but we have the Statue of Liberty people too. I just feel sorry for them as they look rather rediculous. However, I did go buy girl scout cookies. :)

Ha! I love girl scout cookies!

Luckily we don't have many protesters around here, or at least I don't see them. I love living in the Ozarks!

Eating out sounds pretty good to me though, I'm tired of my own cooking.

Hi Elizabeth,

Other than the RNC in St Paul, I haven't seen many protesters either. Which is why it was strange for me to jump to that thought.

I am probably eating out more than I should. But, I am just too tired to cook. Besides, I got a bonus, girl scout cookies!
